Meet (met/met):
“The President of the US met the Prime Minister of Great Britain.”
“I didn't know that they had already met.”


 

Mislead (misled/misled):
“The army was misled by the spy.”
“He felt stupid after he had been misled by false advertising.”


 

Mistake (mistook/mistaken):
“He mistook the mailman for a policeman and ran away.”

She has often been mistaken for a celebrity.”


 

Misunderstand (misunderstood/misunderstood):
“The boss misunderstood his employees excitement.”

I must have misunderstood what you said. I thought you meant to dress casual.”

 

Outdo (outdid/outdone):
“I think our neighbors really outdid us on the decorations.”
"You've really outdone yourself this time."


 

Overcome (overcame/overcome):
“The crippled boy overcame tremendous odds and became the president.”
“The travelers had been overcome with fatigue.”
