“Work, hours, and vacations”

A: What time do you get off?
¿A qué hora te vas?

(En el contexto de trabajo, “to get off” significa “irse de trabajo.” Por ejemplo, “I get off work at 9 tonight.”)

B: 8:30 I think. You?

A las 8:30, creo. ¿Y tú?

A: I'm not sure yet. I might try to stay late. Jessica wants to leave early, so I might stay for her. I'm trying to get more hours this week cause I'll be out of town next week.
Todavía no estoy seguro. Quizás trate de quedarme hasta tarde. Jessica quiere irse temprano, así que tal vez me quede por ella. Estoy tratando de tener más horas esta semana porque voy a estar fuera de la ciudad la semana que viene.

B: Well you can take my shift tomorrow if you want it. So, where are you going?
Pues puedes tomar mi turno mañana si lo quieres. Entonces, ¿a dónde vas?

A: I'm going up to Colorado. I'll get to go skiing and see the mountains. It's supposed to be really pretty there.
Voy para Colorado. Voy a poder ir a esquiar y ver las montañas. Se supone que va a estar muy bonito allí.
(Cuando vas a viajar, caminar, ir, etc para un lugar para el norte, puedes decir “going up to...” Por ejemplo: “Will you go up to the store and get some milk?”)

B: Yeah I've heard it is. But why are you going on vacation? I thought you were almost broke.
Sí oí que lo es. ¿Pero por qué vas de vacaciones? Pensé que estabas casi quebrada.

A: Well I kind of am. But I'm going with my family, so my parents are paying for it.
Pues estoy un poco (quebrada). Pero voy con mi familia, entonces mis padres lo pagarán.

B: Ah, so that's why you're going.
Ah, entonces por eso vas.

A: Yeah. We better get back to work. See you in a bit.
Si. Deberíamos regresar a trabajar. Te veo en un rato.

(“Get back” en este contexto quiere decir “regresar”.)

Para hablar más fluidamente, empieza a utilizar:

To get off (work) – irse de trabajo

Broke – quebrado, no tener dinero. “I can't buy anything cause I'm broke.”
