"Just in case"

Two friends are sitting down. Ryan, Sheryl's boyfriend, is calling but Sheryl doesn't feel like talking to him. Caitlin is concerned.

(Phone rings)   Sheryl: It's Ryan.   Caitlin: You're not going to answer it?   Sheryl: He probably wants to talk about our fight last night, but I don't want to.   Caitlin: But you don't know that. Maybe there's an emergency and he needs your help.   Sheryl: There's not much chance of that.

 

Caitlin: Maybe you should answer, just in case.

Sheryl: I'm not answering the phone. Look, it went to voice-mail.

Caitlin: Aren't you going to check your messages?

Sheryl: Leave me alone!
